And … Comment Below :)

Distraction used to be a major killer in my online business and I know I’m not the only one. Today, I was doing a strategy session with someone and they admitted they keep getting distracted from what they’re supposed to be doing and now they’re a bit overwhelmed.

So, this list aims to show you: How To Stay 100% Laser Focused Working Online – 8 Strategies That Will Help You Get Results Instead Of Sidetracked!

Firstly …. It’s actually not all your fault!

Marketers are geniuses at catching our attention and distracting us from what we’re working on — and before you know it, you’re either pulling out your credit card to buy another $97 product or worse still, you’ve wastes 3 hours on Facebook pretending you’re actually doing something!

So, here’s my list that keeps me laser focused and on the tasks that bring in the money!!!

1) Keep the email checking to a minimum: Many people advise only checking once a day, but I think that’s a bit unreasonable – perhaps only check once every few hours.

2) Turn off Facebook! WHY?? – Facebook is my “Kryptonite” and for majority of people the biggest time waster in the world – I have wasted ssssooooo many hours pretending I was actually using Facebook for “networking” … pppffffttt! Yeah right! I used to have a window with Facebook open all day!!!! …

It is a fantastic tool, but if you’re going to use it for business, then learn how. Here’s a FREE recorded FACEBOOK TRAINING if you really want to know how to use Facebook to build a Network Marketing business.

I do actually use it for business now, but just open a few times a day. I know that’s still a bit obsessive!

3) Think about your business like you would an offline business: Let me ask you … If you owned a retail store or ran a real estate business would you have the TV on in the background? Or would you go shopping while you’re supposed to be working? Would you stop serving people to read a magazine? NO, not if you wanted to be successful, so treat your online business and work time the same way.

4) Keep a notepad next to you. This helps when you get sidetracked and you are attracted to some new website or marketing strategy that promises to be the answer too all your problems – Don’t worry, I know how distracting this is … GGGRRRR …. So, the notepad is for you to jot down ideas, write addresses of websites that you want to come back to etc. This way you can still look at that later, but still keep focused on the task at hand. Perhaps keep some time free in your day to check out things of interest to you.

5) Work Out! When Billionaire Entrepreneur Richard Branson was asked what is the KEY to PRODUCTIVITY … his answer was … WORKING OUT!

Branson says exercise gives him 4 hours more productivity per day – and it totally makes sense. When you exercise, your body and mind is more alert and focused.

6) Plan your day the night before: This only needs to take 5 minutes, but jot down the tasks you want to get done. There is lots of evidence to back up the theory that planning your day the night before helps your focus and productivity the next day.

7) Get in a routine: Here’s an example of a typical day for me …

8-11am – Make phone calls following up prospects.

11am-Midday – I usually present or listen to a training webinar

Midday – Afternoon – I create and distribute 1 piece of content each day – This is my marketing strategy that I’m using, so it really depends how you generate leads, but my marketing takes me about 2 hours a day because I post it on my blog, then email to my list, post it to multiple article directories, then turn it into a video and submit to video directories and then bookmark it on many bookmarking & social media sites. I do NOT do anything else until this is finished – this is my main marketing method – my bread and butter, so it’s important it gets done each day no matter what!

This is not a rigid routine as I have kids, so sometimes the content gets done at night because I had to take my kids to an appointment, or I will record a training call and listen to it later, but the more stable and consistent you are, the better your results!

8 ) Have your goals/dreams in front of you – I read a book called “The Passion Test” by Janet Attwood and this helped me really define my goals and dreams, so now my “TOP 5″ are on my pin board and in my purse to constantly remind me of what I REALLY want. If you get sidetracked, then a quick glance at those and you’ll stop looking at the latest Brangelina photos on TMZ or using the Facebook chat!

I hope this lists helps you Stay 100% Laser Focused while Working Online … and even if you stray off the path, don’t beat yourself up, just remove the distractions and try again.

Hope you enjoyed this info … do me a favor and if you found it useful, comment, like or share it on facebook :-)

Great list. I’m doing ok with everything except #5 & #7. I’ve started a “routine” am am in the trial-n-error phase. So far, doing my social media first is working out. (Tried to do phonecalls 1st, but I’m not an AM person:-( Still haven’t found the best time to workout yet.

Erika, I think it takes time to get in a routine and don’t worry it took me a long time to incorporate Working Out back into my schedule ;-)
