Uncontaminated Oats Smoothie (Sorry NOT for Coeliacs) :(

gluten free oats

Sorry to burst your bubble, but there’s no such thing as “Gluten Free Oats” :(

I know -  it sux!

I made this video recently after we became a gluten free household. I was told by a lady at the health food store that they stock gluten free oats, otherwise known as uncontaminated oats – “Cool” I said … and paid the exorbetant price.

Later I found out that NO oats are gluten free (not even if it says Uncontaminated Oats – Gluten Free). I know this is misleading, but this advice is from our speciliast dietitcian and backed up by the Coeliac Society in Australia.

So, if you want to follow this recipe, then go for it … but just note that it’s NOT for people who are gluten intollerant or Coeliac.

Today’s recipe is a Super Yummy Breakfast Smoothie made with Uncontaminated Oats.

It’s actually a variation on last week’s popular “Crunchy BananaRama” …

This week, I have mixed 2 of my favourite breakfasts:

  1. Spinach, Fruit & Nut Smoothie (Crunchy BananaRama)
  2. Sugar Free Muesli (recipe from “Sweet Poison Quit Plan” book by David Gillespie)

Watch the video to see how I make it: (so yummy – it has a hint of coconut!!!!)

“Uncontaminated Oats Smoothie” recipe:

  • 1 x Banana
  • 1/3 Mango
  • Milk
  • Water (if you want – I like to water my milk down because I don’t really like the taste of full cream milk)
  • Baby spinach leaves
  • Sugar Free Muesli — recipe from Sweet Poison Quit Plan includes: Oats (I use UN-contaminated oats), Nuts, Sesame Seeds, Coconut
  • Blend!!!!!!

Have you jumped on the SUGAR FREE bandwagon? … Let me know how you’re going? It’s always fun to know how other people are going? Any weird withdrawals or unexpected things happen since going on your sugar free diet?
